The Abengoa Group operates in a number of jurisdictions around the world, including Luxembourg, Spain and Mexico. It employs more than 13,000 people in its different operating jurisdictions.

We assisted Banco Santander on the debt restructuring and the new money injection and related security package, involving other interested lenders, including large international credit institutions, private equity funds and distressed debt funds. This transaction was notable in its complexity due to the large number of lenders, the different lender groups with varying interests, rankings and creditor rights and the large number of jurisdictions involved.

Our Corporate M&A, Banking & Finance and Tax teams, led by Anne-Marie Nicolas and Siobhán McCarthy, combined their expertise in advising Banco Santander in the restructuring of the Abengoa Group.

Banking & Finance team also included: Alvaro Garrido Mesa (Senior Associate), Richard Steichen (Associate)
Corporate M&A team also included: Ana Andreiana (Senior Associate), Vera Pavelka (Associate)
Tax: Nadège Le Gouellec (Senior Associate)
